Amazon WorkSpaces for iPad brings cloud desktop to Apple's tablet

Amazon WorkSpaces, the company's virtual desktops service that competes with VMware, is now available for the iPad.

The new app is for those who have access to the WorkSpaces Limited Preview to use their iPad device as a kind of cloud desktop designed to handle everyday corporate computing tasks, like editing docs, accessing web apps, sending and receiving company email, all from a Windows desktop interface.

Designed for a corporate computing environment, the idea behind WorkSpaces is to give IT admins the ability to configure cloud desktops for end users that lets them access internal company resources from their choice of devices, including laptops, Android tablets, Kindle Fire, and iPad.
