Report claims Apple's iTunes apps store has 1 million apps

 Appsfire is a company focused on app discovery services, and they apparently closely monitor the status quo of the Apple ecosystem. A little more than a year ago it claimed that Apple has approved 1 million applications for the iTunes app store, but so far we have not seen that number materialize neither in reality, nor in any official mention — though Apple usually makes a big deal out of its iTunes diversity.
In a recent blog post, Appsfire claims that there are now 1 million apps ready and available to download in the AppStore, out of the 1.4 million “ever approved” by Apple. The same source compares the situation with Google’s Play Store which allegedly has around 881,000 apps out of the 1.17 million approved.
Almost half of the alleged 1 million software titles in the iTunes app store are iPad optimized, or specific: 413,000, claims Appsfire. Sure, before we jump in an endless back and forth discussion about useless, often referred to “fart”-apps, we need to understand that every ecosystem has useful, and not so useful offerings. So, how many apps do you have installed, at any moment, on your mobile device or tablet?
