Cyanogen in Search for New Employees Including Android Software Engineers
If you make a habit of flashing custom Android ROMs to your device, chances are you already know of Cyanogen. The company’s custom ROM, aptly named CyanogenMod, is perhaps the most popular one on the block, and Android users all over look forward to each release. If you’ve got some coding skills of your own and have been on the look out for a new gig, you might be happy to know that Cyanogen is currently hiring.
According to Cyanogen’s careers page, it’s looking for multiple Android software engineers. These full-time, salaried positions also come with benefits and stock options, so don’t think this isn’t the real deal. Of course, for all of that, you’ll obviously be expected to perform, which brings us to the job requirements. In order to be considered for the position, you’ll need to know Java and C++. The folks at Cyanogen also want you to have two or more years of Android experience, but it sounds like such experience isn’t so much a requirement as it is a plus.
Next up, Cyanogen is looking to hire a developer advocate. Like the software engineer job, this is a full-time, salaried position that comes with numerous perks like stock options, medical benefits, and structured incentives. While you won’t need as much experience writing code, you will need to have “great writing and verbal communication skills,” along with the capacity to handle multiple assignments at once. Though you may not need to know Android as well as a developer, you’ll still need to be familiar with Git and Gerrit, as you’ll be writing up to help tutorials to help users and even traveling to present on the behalf of Cyanogen at conventions and conferences.
Finally, Cyanogen is looking for multiple specialty software engineers. These positions require “exceptional skills in specific applications for the modern mobile Operating System.” The subsystems mentioned include audio systems, programming and embedded systems, and cameras. These positions also require knowledge of Java and C++, but unlike the other Software Engineer position, this one includes experience with C as a necessary skill. Additionally, you’ll need three or more years of experience in the field you apply for, while experience as an Android software engineer is a plus. If you can meet the requirements of any of these positions, head over to the Cyanogen careers page, where you can apply for all of the open jobs.
