How To Install CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies on your Google Nexus 5

Finally, CyanogenMod 11 Nightlies for the Nexus 5 have started pumping out. Although they started coming out about a week or so ago. CyanogenMod 11 is based off of Android 4.4 – KitKat, in case you were wondering. But of course it has some of CyanogenMod’s own features, although some of those may be broken right now. Some of you may be looking to flash CyanogenMod 11 onto your Nexus 5, and well that’s what we are here to show you. It’s actually quite simple to flash CM11 onto your Nexus 5, since the Nexus was literally made to hack.

How to flash CyanogenMod 11 onto the Google Nexus 5:

1. First download the ROM and Gapps from CyanogenMod’s website
2. Place those two files onto your phone’s internal storage
3. Before we continue, you need to be sure you’re rooted and your bootloader is unlocked.
4. After you’ve completed those three steps, reboot your phone into recovery (usually power down, the power +Volume down to get into bootloader and then use the volume and power button to select Recovery)
5. Once in recovery, be sure to create a NANDROID Backup, in case anything happens during install, all your information is backed up
6. Once the NANDROID backup is done, Select ‘Wipe” or Factory Reset.
7. From there you’re going to Select Factory Reset and then confirm it
8. Next you’re going to select Wipe Cache and confirm it
9. Now your phone has no data, except for those two files you transferred over. You’re going to select “install zip from sdcard”
10. Next find the CyanogenMod 11 ROM you downloaded and confirm that you want to flash that
11. Now repeat step 9, and instead of flashing the CyanogenMod 11 file, you’re going to choose the Gapps package and confirm it.
12. Once those two are done, go ahead and reboot your phone.
13. Your phone may take a little bit longer than normal to boot up because it’s rebuilding the cache, and finishing the installation.
