MixRadio music streaming service launched On Nokia

Nokia’s music service has been rebranded for Windows phones.Nokia has launched its new MixRadio music streaming service making it available in 31 countries around the world including the UK, US and China.

Building on its acclaimed music streaming service that was launched in 2011, Nokia has introduced the new ‘Play Me’ feature that learns from users listening habits to deliver a personalised radio station that is unique to every user. It’s already available to Nokia Lumia owners and will feature on all new Nokia devices.

MixRadio encourages users to either give a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ to songs and artists in order to hone its music selection and tailor it to the individual. The service also offers hundreds of expert and celebrity mixes to listen completely free of adverts, sign ups and subscriptions. Users can then save mixes for offline listening during times without signal or Wi-Fi access, as well as reducing data use and costs. The app rivals services such as Spotify and Rdio that charge users to stream select music on a mobile device.Nokia MixRadio can be downloaded today at www.windowsphone.com/store

Music artist and producer, Nile Rodgers, endorsed Nokia’s MixRadio service at the launch event in New York where he announced a series of exclusive mixes he had created and shared through the new MixSharing feature. This allows users to share three full tracks of a mix with their friends through social media or SMS which then can be listened to at www.mixrad.io, free of charge.

Rodgers said: “Radio has always been the way most people discover new music, but the format hasn’t really changed since the 50’s. I love MixRadio because it’s radio for the digital generation, simple, immediate and unique. And the MixSharing feature means people can create and transmit their own radio station! More people discovering great music is always a good thing.”
