Android 4.4 has been around for almost a month now but of
course, only those with a Nexus device have been treated to the
chocolatey new version of Android. The Google Play Editions of the HTC
One and Galaxy S4 have even had to wait a little longer this time around
but, now KitKat is finally making its way to the HTC One, Google Play
Edition. It might have take
n a little longer than users would have liked
but, the official update is finally here. Coming in at 320MB, the
update will bring with the slightly tweaked Holo theme, Cloud Printing
support and the rest of the features of Android 4.4.
In order to
get the update, you must be running Android 4.3, JWR66Y, and this update
will bring you up to KRT16. The update is rolling out right now but, of
course this is done in stages so you might get the update right away.
If you can’t wait however, you can download the OTA package directly
from Google here.
Unless you know what you’re doing however, it might be best to just
wait a day or two. No matter though, if you’re running the stock build
of JWR66Y, you should be able to flash this no problem. In fact, on the
Google Play Edition of the One, you can simply download it to your
device and flash it through the stock recovery.
Overall though, this isn’t a huge update from Android 4.3 but, an
update is an update and new features like the immersive mode for apps
should be welcome additions and it’s always nice to have the latest
version of Android while your friends continue to wait for those carrier
updates
If you want to sideload the update, you can use the download link.
