Samsung Galaxy Band Rumored To Be The Galaxy Gear’s Successor
The Samsung Galaxy Gear was announced a few months ago and while the device was an interesting one, one of the reasons why it was not as well-received was due to its battery life which was around 1 day’s worth, and nobody really likes to have to charge their watch on a daily basis, right? Unsurprisingly we have heard the rumors that Samsung is already prepping the successor to the Galaxy Gear which will hopefully address some of the issues, and if the latest rumors are to be believed, the device could be known as the Galaxy Band, as opposed to the Galaxy Gear 2. We’re not sure what’s with the different naming, but perhaps Samsung wants to distance itself from the flop that was the Galaxy Gear with a new product name.
Also more interesting would be how it has been rumored that a former Apple software engineer, Luc Julia, would be the one to lead the development of the Galaxy Band. Julia had left Apple for Samsung awhile ago and given that he was one of the software engineers for Siri, it will be interesting to see if he will be bringing some of his expertise over into the Galaxy Band. There’s no telling when Samsung will launch the Galaxy Band, but the rumors are claiming that 2014 is a possibility, with speculated dates as early as CES 2014 or MWC 2014 which will be taking place in January and February of 2014 respectively. Until then do take it with a grain of salt
