Microsoft Says Windows 8.1 Preview License To Expire In Jan 2014

Microsoft did introduce the free public preview version of Windows 8.1 in June earlier this year, and a few months down the road In October, Microsoft also revealed a commercial version of Windows 8.1, which happened to be a free download for Windows 8 users, and it remains a paid upgrade for all other versions of the operating system. For those who have installed the preview version of Windows 8.1 on one or more of your computers, how about making that upgrade to the final version? Microsoft did mention that the preview license will expire in January next year without giving away an exact date as to when that would happen.

In the blog, it mentioned, “Plans should be made to move to the released version of Windows 8.1 or return to the prior OS version as soon as possible to avoid interruption in use of the device on which the Windows 8.1 Preview was installed.” Well, if one were to look at it properly, the earliest it would shut down would be on January 1st, while on the opposite end of the spectrum, it would be January 31st.
