Huawei isn’t really known for their phones over here in the US. They’ve been accused plenty of times about spying on the US. In fact, they are pulling out of the US market. However, Huawei has announced a couple of new low-budget devices that are coming to China. The Honor 3X and Honor 3C. Which are both set to compete with Xiaomi’s cheap devices in China. Both of which are dual-SIM devices, which is because that is very popular over in China and really all of Asia.
The Honor 3X is an octa-core powered device. It’s using MediaTek’s MT6592 processor clocked at 1.7GHz. That’s MediaTek’s first octa-core processor. It’s also sporting 2GB of RAM, a 13MP camera on the back, 5MP on the front. Powered by a 3000mAh battery inside. It’s got a 5.5-inch 720p display. Which is an IPS display. So not bad for a “cheap device” right? That’s right on par with a lot of the high-end or flagship devices right now, apart from the display. This one will cost you around $280 off-contract. Making it out to be a bit cheaper than Xiaomi’s MI3.
While the Honor 3C is cheaper, it does also have cheaper specs. It’s running Android 4.2, 2300mAh battery, quad-core 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 processor, 5-inch 720p LTPS display, Sony’s 8MP shooter on the back, with a 5MP on the front. It’s also got dual-SIM slots which are WCDMA + GSM or TD-SCDMA + GSM, there’s also 8GB of storage on board with microSD card expansion. It comes in two models. One with 1GB of RAM which will cost you about $130, and the 2GB of RAM model is $160.
Two semi-great devices coming out of Huawei, unfortunately they will probably never make it out of China. As I think these would be some good contenders alongside the Moto G in a lot of markets. Especially for those that want to have a larger display.
