Nokia Planning 8-inch Lumia 2020 Tablet For Q1 2014

Nokia has plans to release an 8-inch tablet to the market in the first quarter of 2014, according to Digitimes. Nokia, who will be following up on its 10-inch Lumia 2520 that just launched, will release the 8-inch tablet under the Lumia 2020 name targeting the high-end market, according to the report.
This isn't the first time we've heard about Nokia launching an iPad mini competitor, presumably set to be priced similar to Apple's offerings just like the Lumia 2520 carried the same price as the full-sized iPad.

It's worth noting Digitimes has been hit or miss in the past, but its correct reports have often fell around launch timelines. The trade publication doesn't provide any word on specifications or overall design. However, IntoMobile chimes in with word the Lumia 2020 will pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 900 processor, 2GB of RAM, and Windows 8.1 RT.
Earlier this month EvLeaks, often reliable with Nokia rumours, provide the codename "Illusionist" for the 8-inch Lumia tablet behind the closed doors of Nokia as the company works to bring it to market.

Nokia has taken a multi-tier approach to the smartphone market, so it only makes sense for the soon to be Microsoft-owned company to do the same with tablets. The Verge chimes in with more details, saying the Illusionist will be released early next year alongside a 6-inch Lumia 1320. It too says the tablet will ship with Windows RT 8.1 and a Qualcomm processor.

With Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia expected to close in 2014, it's not clear how widespread of a release the 8-inch tablet would see. Additionally, Microsoft is reportedly still on track to release a 7.5-inch mini version of the Surface in early 2014 - perhaps making for an awkward line-up of similarly spec'd tablets.
