Blackberry has announced another step in their move to see BBM
deployed as a communication platform outside of the Blackberry
ecosystem. After a successful launch of the BBM app for Android
and iOS during October, Blackberry is back with news that they have
struck deals with several Android smartphone OEMs to have the app
pre-installed on new devices.

The companies that are named by Blackberry include Be, Brightstar,
Celkon, EVERCROSS, IMO, Micromax, Mito, Snexian, Spice, TECNO, TiPhone
and Zen. These companies will make the devices available in markets in
Africa, India, Indonesia, Latin America, and the Middle East staring
some time in December. You might note that the major manufacturers you
may be used to seeing, like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony or some of the up and
coming Chinese manufacturers like Xiaomi are not on the list. Of
course, users with devices from other companies or other regions can
still download and install the BBM app from Google Play.
